American actor, Marlon Brando, was born in in Omaha, Nebraska. His acting, as much as his style, which included an intense disinterest in the "Hollywood Hype", made him a legendary figure in the film industry.
American actress, Doris Day, was born in Evanston, Ohio. She was one of the most prominent actresses of the 50's and 60's eras.
Joseph Stalin succeeded Vladimir Lenin in the leadership of the Soviet Union.
German composer, Johannes Brahms, died at the age of 64 in Vienna, Austria.
The island of Spetses joins the revolution against the occupation of Greece by the Ottoman empire.
English poet, George Herbert, was born. He is considered as one of the greatest poets of all time.
