In the year 1821

	March 23th	The banner of the Greek revolution against Ottoman occupation was raised in Agia Lavra, by Paleon Patron Germanos, Londos and Zaimis.
	March 25th	Official day recognized as the start of the Greek revolution against Ottoman occupation.
	April 3rd	The island of Spetses joins the revolution against the occupation of Greece by the Ottoman empire.
	April 10th	Orthodox patriarch Gregory the fifth is hanged at the gates of the Ecumenical patriarchy in Constantinople as reprisal for the Greek revolution.
	April 10th	The island of Psara joined the revolution against the Ottoman occupation of Greece.
	May 5th	Napoleon Bonaparte died on the island of Saint Helena.
	July 13th	American general, Nathan Bedford Forrest, was born in Chapel Hill, Tennessee. He was a Confederate army general and is widely considered as the founder of the original Ku Klux Klan.
	July 28th	Peru declared independence from Spanish rule.
	August 10th	Missouri was admitted as the 24th US state.
	September 7th	The Republic of Gran Colombia was established, with Venezuelan revolutionary, Simon Bolivar as the President. The republic consisted most of what is today consisting of present-day Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Panama.
	September 15th	The countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua jointly declared their independence from Spain.
	September 27th	Mexico gained its independence from Spain. The Mexican war of independence lasted 11 years before Spain was forced to recognize Mexico as a sovereign nation.
	October 11th	English, George Williams, was born in Somerset, England. He was the founder of the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA). The YMCA is a worldwide private service organization based on Christian values.
	October 30th	Russian writer, Fyodor Dostoevsky, was born in Moscow. He was arguably the most influential writer of Russian history, and is considered by many as one of the most important writers of modern times.
	November 28th	Panama gained it Independence from Spain and joined the Great Colombia. The great Colombia was a republic in South America that consisted of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Panama. It existed between the years 1819 and 183.
