Nazi official, Rudolf Hess, died at the age of 92. He was second in command of Nazi Germany and is most of all known for flying to Mayhill army barracks in Glasgow, Scotland in an attempt to negotiate peace with England. He was arrested and then tried at Nuremberg, where he received a life sentence. He spent the remaining days of his life in Spandau Prison. |

American cult leader, David Koresh, was born in Houston, Texas. He was the leader of the Branch Davidians religious sect, and proclaimed himself to be the final prophet. In 1993 the FBI laid siege on the Branch Davidian ranch at Waco, Texas. The siege ended up with the burning of the ranch and the death of 79 members of the cult, including Koresh himself. |

Hollywood producer, Samuel Goldwyn, was born in Warsaw, Poland. He was one of the early pioneers of movie production in the Unites States and was one of the founders of the Goldwyn Pictures Corporation, which eventually became the well known Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer production company. However, by the time the original company was renamed to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, he was no longer a shareholder. |
