In the year 1831

	March 10th	The French Foreign Legion was established by King Louis Philippe in an effort to garner support for his war in Algeria.
	June 13th	Scottish physicist, James Clerk Maxwell, was born in Edinburgh. He was one of the most important contributors to the scientific fields of electricity and magnetism.
	August 1st	London Bridge opened to the public.
	December 27th	Charles Darwin embarked on the journey aboard the HMS Beagle. it was aboard the beagle that he formulated his theory of evolution.
