This year in history
In the year 1829

	February 26th	German born fashion designer, Levi Strauss, was born in Franconia, Bavaria. In 1847 he emigrated with his family to the United States. In 1853 he founded the Levi Strauss & Co. clothing company.
	June 10th	The first boat race between the teams of Oxford and Cambridge universities took place.
	June 16th	Apache leader, Geronimo, was born in what is now the US state of Arizona. He was one of the most famous American Indian leaders who led the last remnants of resistance against the United States and died as a prisoner of war.
	August 23th	German mathematician, Moritz Cantor, was born in Mannheim.
	September 29th	London's Metropolitan Police, became the first official police department in the world.
