American general, Nathan Bedford Forrest, was born in Chapel Hill, Tennessee. He was a Confederate army general and is widely considered as the founder of the original Ku Klux Klan.

The Republic of Gran Colombia was established, with Venezuelan revolutionary, Simon Bolivar as the President. The republic consisted most of what is today consisting of present-day Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Panama.

The countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua jointly declared their independence from Spain.

Mexico gained its independence from Spain. The Mexican war of independence lasted 11 years before Spain was forced to recognize Mexico as a sovereign nation.

English, George Williams, was born in Somerset, England. He was the founder of the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA). The YMCA is a worldwide private service organization based on Christian values.

Russian writer, Fyodor Dostoevsky, was born in Moscow. He was arguably the most influential writer of Russian history, and is considered by many as one of the most important writers of modern times.

Panama gained it Independence from Spain and joined the Great Colombia. The great Colombia was a republic in South America that consisted of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Panama. It existed between the years 1819 and 183.
