June
27th
British forces captured the city of Buenos Aires. The British were unable to hold the city though and were thereafter repulsed.
August
23th
French physicist, Charles Augustin de Coulomb, died at the age of 69. He was one of the leading scientists in the field of electricity and electromagnetism. The unit of electrical charge, the coulomb, is named after him.
October
7th
Inventor Ralph Wedgewood, was awarded a patent for carbon paper in London, England.
