In the year 1721
July
8th
British businessman, Elihu Yale, died at the age of 71. He was part of the British East India Company, and had managed to amass a huge fortune throughout his lifetime. He used part of his fortune to help the then newly formed Collegiate School of Connecticut, which was later renamed and is still known as Yale University.
