The last Arab stronghold in Spain was retaken by Spanish forces.

King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella signed the decree of Alhambra which included the expelling all Jews from the kingdoms of then Spain unless they convert to Roman Catholicism.

8th
Lorenzo de Medici, ruler of Florence, died at the age of 43. He was one of the most celebrated rulers of the Italian Renaissance era and the architect of "the Golden Age" of Florence.
August
3rd
Italian explorer, Christopher Columbus, began his historic journey from Palos de la Frontera, Spain.
October
12th
Christopher Columbus landed on the Caribbean, he was under the impression that he had reached East Asia.
