In the year 1866

	April 6th	American outlaw, Butch Cassidy, was born in Utah. He was one of the most notorious train and bank robbers of the old west era.
	May 16th	The soft drink, root beer, was invented.
	June 8th	The Canadian parliament convened for the first time in the city of Ottawa.
	July 24th	Tennessee became the first US state to be readmitted to the Union after the American Civil War.
	July 27th	The laying of the 'Atlantic Cable' was successfully completed making transatlantic telegraph communication a reality. The first telegram sent was a letter of congratulation from Queen Victoria of England to United States president James Buchanan.
	September 21st	British writer, Herbert George Wells, was born in Kent. He is best known for having written the classic science fiction novels, The Time Machine, The War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, and The Island of Doctor Moreau.
	December 4th	Russian-born painter, Wassily Kandinsky, was born in Moscow. He is one of the most famous artists of the 20th century.
	December 16th	Russian painter, Wassily Kandinsky, was born in Moscow. He is one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. He took painting lessons for the first time at the age of 30.
