In the year 1862

	February 4th	The Bacardi company was founded in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.
	April 20th	French scientist Louis Pasteur, completed the first pasteurization test ever. Pasteurization is the process of heating food in order to kill harmful organisms.
	August 22nd	French composer, Claude Debussy, was born in St. Germain-en-Laye. He is widely seen as one of the most important musical figures of the turn on the 20th century.
	November 5th	In Minnesota, more than 300 Santee Sioux Indians were accused of raping and murdering white settlers and are sentenced to die by hanging.
