In the year 1858

	March 18th	German inventor, Rudolf Diesel, was born in Paris. He was the inventor of the Diesel engine.
	March 30th	The first pencil with an eraser attached was patented by Hymen Lipman. The patent however was invalidated later on as the item was a combination of two previously known and used items.
	December 22nd	Italian composer, Giacomo Puccini, was born in Lucca. He is one of the most celebrated opera composers of all time.
