In the year 1846

	February 26th	American frontiersman, Buffalo Bill, was born in Iowa. He was one of the most well known figures of the American west.
	May 13th	The United States declared war on Mexico. The main cause of the war was Mexico's refusal to recognize Texas as a legitimate state after the 1836 Texas Revolution. By 1845 Texas became the 28th state of the United States with Mexico claiming that the US was interfering in its internal affairs.
	May 17th	Adolphe Sax was awarded the patent for the saxophone.
	June 19th	The first game of baseball (under its current form and rules) was played in Hoboken, New Jersey, United States.
	December 28th	Iowa was admitted as the 29th U.S. state.
