In the year 1833

	January 3rd	Britain seized control of the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic.
	March 25th	Greek literary figure, Adamntios Korais, died in Paris, France, at the age of 85. He was one of the most influential figures of Greek literature in the 18th and 19th centuries.
	August 12th	The city of Chicago, USA, was founded.
	August 23th	Britain abolished slavery in all its colonies.
	October 21st	Swedish inventor, Alfred Nobel, was born in Stockholm. He was the inventor of dynamite and the founder of the Nobel Prizes.
