This year in history
In the year 1822

	January 2nd	German physicist, Rudolf Clausius, was born in Koslin, Prussia. He was one of the founders of thermodynamics.
	January 6th	German archaeologist, Heinrich Schliemann, was born in Nebukow, Germany. He was one of the most celebrated archaeologists of all time known throughout history for his excavations at Troy and Mycenae.
	September 7th	Brazil declared its independence from the rule of Portugal. Then prince regent Dom Pedro I declared independence and established the independent Empire of Brazil. Thus it was more of a split of the Portuguese Empire, than a declaration of independence.
	December 27th	French chemist, Louis Pasteur, was born in Dole, France. He was the inventor of the pasteurization process which effectively prevents milk and other food products from going sour.
