This year in history
In the year 1798

	April 8th	Greek poet, Dionisios Solomos, was born in the island of Zakynthos. The words of the Greek national anthem are based on one of his poems.
	April 26th	French painter, Eugene Delacroix, was born in the Rhone-Alpes Region of France. He is considered as one of the great painters of all time and one of the leaders of the Romanticism movement.
	May 24th	The Irish republican rebellion began. The rebellion lasted a few months, and despite some assistance from the French, it was crushed by British forces.
