In the year 1781

	February 15th	German philosopher, Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, died at the age of 51. He was one of the most prominent figures of the enlightment period.
	March 13th	German astronomer William Herschelm discovered the planet Uranus.
	September 4th	The modern city of Los Angeles, California, was founded by a group of 44 Spanish settlers under the name 'El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora La Reina de los Angeles de Porciuncula' (the City of Our Lady, the Queen of the Angels of the Little Portion).
