In the year 1776

	February 11th	Greek politician, Joannis Capodistrias, was born in Corfu. He was the first head of state of Greece after its war of independence against the Otoman empire.
	May 11th	Greek revolutionary, Laskarina Bouboulina, was born in Constantinople. She was one of the most prolific personas of the Greek war for independence of 1821.
	August 25th	Scottish philosopher, David Hume, died at the age of 65. He is widely considered as one of the most important figures in the history of Western philosophy and one of the key figures of Enlightenment.
	September 6th	A hurricane devastated the island of Guadeloupe, killing over 6000 people.
	December 26th	During the course of the American Revolutionary War, British forces were defeated in the Battle of Trenton.
