In the year 1737

	February 12th	The opera house of San Carlo in Naples, Italy opened for its first performance. It is the oldest surviving opera house in Europe.
	October 2nd	American, Francis Hopkinson, was born in Philadelphia. He was one of the authors and signees of the American Declaration of Independence.
	December 18th	Italian, Antonio Stradivari, was born in Cremona, Italy. He is history's most famous violin maker, whose instruments are still considered the best of their kind.
