In the year 1838

	January 26th	The US state of Tennessee was the first to enforce an alcoholic beverage prohibition law in the United States.
	April 30th	Nicaragua declared its independence from the Central American Federation.
	July 8th	German inventor, Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin, was born in Konstanz, Grand Duchy of Baden. He was the founder of the Zeppelin airship company.
	November 3rd	The Times of India, the newspaper with the largest circulation in the world was founded as The Bombay Times and Journal of Commerce.
