Kipland Kinkel, a student at Thurston High School in Springfield, Oregon USA, fired a semiautomatic rifle into a classroom, killing 2 students and wounding 25 others. Earlier in the day he had murdered his parents at home.
Former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated near the city of Madras.
A fire destroyed approximately 2000 homes in the city of Atlanta, USA.
